Sleep Disorders are common in our community. There are many different types of Sleep Disorders. These include breathing disorders during sleep (such as obstructive sleep apnoea); disorders of sleep regulation causing excessive daytime sleepiness (eg, narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnolence); poor sleep due to restless legs at night; abnormal behaviours at night; the effects of drugs and shift work on sleep and awake function; sleep deprivation; and other types of insomnia.
The Sleep and Circadian Group at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research is able to provide customised sleep health programs for employees and employers to reduce the impact of sleep disorders on the health of individuals and organisations alike. Programs range from introductory presentations and seminars to tailored needs analyses and focused interventions designed to fulfill occupational health and safety requirements and increase productivity and quality of life in the workplace and beyond.
